The Best Christmas Pageant Ever – First Presbyterian Sanctuary, December 9-18
Mary Robinson’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, based on her novel of
the same name, is a widely beloved Christmas tale, warm and incredibly funny,
full of characters both relatable and utterly unique. The TV movie became an
Emmy Award Winner! The large cast and age range make this show a community
favorite, in which a varied, multi-generational group of performers can come
together. Rated G.

Godspell – First Presbyterian Theater, March 24-April 2
Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm with a Tony Award for Best Score! A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life. Rated G.
Clybourne Park – First Presbyterian Theater, May 12-21
Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play, Clybourne Park is a razor-sharp satire about the politics of race. In response to Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun, playwright Bruce Norris set up Clybourne Park as a pair of scenes that bookend Hansberry’s piece. These two scenes, fifty years apart, are both set in the same modest bungalow on Chicago’s northwest side that features at the center of A Raisin in the Sun. In both instances, a community showdown takes place, pitting race against real estate with this home as the battleground. Rated PG-13.
